Black Studies Program

We Listen Series--Violinist and hip hop head, Damien Escobar (Nuttin but Strings, America’s Got Talent), will perform and discuss his unusual journey from Queens to the concert stage.   This program highlights one narrative from the collective process of emancipation by focusing on how one African American man forged a unique sound by infusing his own African American culture into Western art music. Sponsored by the School of Music, Black History Month Committee, Black Studies Program, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Office of the Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Chancellor's Diversity Initiative, Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center.
