For the first Book Discussion of the Semester, the Bridge will analyzing Growing Up X, the 2002 memoir of the late civil right activist Malcolm X’s middle daughter Ilyasah. In her memoir, Ilyasah discusses her life after her father's tragic passing when she was only 2 years old, to her adulthood, where she found a more nuanced answer on what is meant to be a daughter of X. 
  
Ilyasah will be the keynote speaker for the Black Studies Dept.’s Black History Month Celebration on February 22nd.
