Black Studies presents Marlon M. Bailey, author of Butch Queens Up in Pumps: Gender, Performance and Ballroom Culture in Detroit, for an engaging discussion on Black gay men, HIV/AIDS and community. Bailey, an associate professor of Women’s and Gender Studies in the School of Social Transformation at ASU, is a Black queer and cultural theorist, an HIV/AIDS prevention scholar/activist, and a performing artist.
